Below are the required steps to link your domain to Shopify. Please note, your domain must be fully registered and active before making changes to DNS.
Step 1: Log in to Shopify
- Once in your Shopify account, go to Online Store > Domains
- Click Connect existing domain
- Enter the domain named to wish to connect (mydomain.ie for example)
- Click Next
Step 2: Change DNS settings
- Log into the SmartHost Client Area
- Once logged in, hover above the domains tab, and select Manage DNS
- Click Add New Zone
- Enter the Zone Name as your domain name and the IP address as 23.227.38.65. This is correct at the time of writing this, but the IP Address can change at any time so please check this in your settings within Shopify to make sure it is accurate
- Click Edit Zone (small pen icon)
- For the first record, select A record in the dropdown menu. In the Type or Record field, enter @, and in the Points To field, enter Shopify IP address of 23.227.38.65
- For the second record, select CNAME in the dropdown menu. In the Domain field, enter www and in the Canonical Name field, enter shops.myshopify.com. and save changes. Please be aware, the full stop is important at the end of shops.myshopify.com.
Step 3: Verification
- You now need to head back to your Shopify account and click Verify Connection. Please note, this could take 48 hours for your domain to connect with Shopify.
